While the mornings break with the soothing bhajan & chants of temple the nights settle with scores of highly never before complex issues of the first ever super thermal power plant of this state. The religious belief & technical expertise goes hand-in-hand here. All the big whose who of our country have laid their feet on this plant to solve these ever new complex scientific, financial, technical, social & political issues of this plant. It’s an unique place!

Popular Tourist spots of NKSTPP: Accept it or not these are the most popular tourist spots of NTPC North Karanpura. The sequence may get changed here & there but mostly remain same over the time – 
01. Intake barrage and the view from corner spot of last lock gate [30 minutes]
02. Water reservoir cum Atal Parisar [40 minutes]
03. TDHC [Truck Dumper cum Hopper Complex] from View point [20 minutes]
04. Truck Tipler Hopper -1 [10 minutes]
05. Unit-1 Boiler 90 meters railing view point [30 minutes]
06. Unit-1 Boiler 90 meters rear side [10 minutes]
07. CCR [20 minutes]
08. Unit-1 ACC zero meter [10 minutes]
Full package includes – 1 night 1 day stay at venue. The ash dyke visit has so far not been included for any of the VIP visits but expected to be part of the itinerary soon. What do you say!

Tress of NKSTPP: While majority of tress of NKSTPP are planted 5 to 20 years back, 5 distinct tress are there in NKSTPP which are 100 to 150 years old. The two are just at the back of our ETS. Behind the upcoming B3 building. They are two majestic neem trees on either side of the walkway somewhere between 100 to 150 years old. On the south-west side of PTS there is a big tree which is around 50 to 75 years old. Go further west upto TDHC [External CHP weigh bridge area ] two big tress are there – One Banyan & one Mahua, both are around 75 years old today. The beautiful banyan tree at Atal Parisar, planted on 1999 by the then PM Sh Atal Bihari Bajpai, is 24 years old today.

Few more big trees are there on the west sides downstream embankments of the ash dyke. They are about 50 to 100 years old. While you have taken good care of these majestic beauties, I hope they will survive the taste of time and will be here for another 200 years. 

Shopping complex: The new shopping complex have been inaugurated recently. Till now no shops have been started yet but If I compare with my starting days of Korva or Vindhyachal shopping complexes following are the common shops that are going to be found in any of the fur flung NTPC township shopping complexes – A few cloth stores, a couple of utensil shops, hair cutting saloon, ek chai ki dukan , ek provision store and ek dawai ki dukan.
All other variety of stores will follow slowly after this. The ultimate shop that can enter the shopping complex when it has developed to the highest possible level, will be a flowery bouquet shop!

Netarhat Trip [1]

 Netarhat Trip So, four of my buddies, including me and three fellow retirees (plus one who’s about to join the club in six months), decided to zoom off to Netarhat, Jharkhand in my new car! This trip has been in the works for a while, though a few of our original group had to bail for various reasons. Luckily, two of my old college pals jumped right in to keep the adventure going strong! Our pickup plan was a true cross-city adventure!   One Night at Durgadih Eco Resort It all started with Debanu's suggestion—a simple plan to escape to a nearby resort for a weekend getaway with all our friends. The essentials were clear: good food, drinks for the big boys, and a scenic backdrop to relax in. Since it was a nearby location and just a weekend trip, we expected most of our friends to join. We quickly shortlisted a few places, some only a few tens of kilometers away. However, when I contacted them, the prices turned out to be heavily inflated, and none of the options could accommodate our group size. A quick search revealed that most of the nearby spots cater primarily to weekend family and friend groups from Kolkata, who typically visit for day trips or short week end stays.
