Choti Choti Batyen of NTPC - 3

Choti Choti Batyen of NTPC - 3

[After superannuation when I look back on my 36 years span of NTPC carrier, I find many uncanny incidents that I tried to recall in this blog post. Hope you will enjoy this. Comments are welcome]

Three tall chimneys of North Karanpura vanished gradually: At the Nilamber Pitamber gate of ETS [Enabling Town Ship] I waved my hand to the morning shift security guard. He also waved to us not knowing that this is the last time we are waving hands to each other. Seeing our pet dog Daichu at the rear seat two street dogs – Leti & Peti came running behind our car. They chased for few meters finally left behind. These two dogs often play with Daichi on the stadium. They also don’t know that their friend is finally leaving them behind.

Quickly we came on to the double road leaving behind the main gate. With heavy heart we pass the Jora-Talao crossing and the DAV school. On my right I quickly glanced at the reservoir-1 which few days back I only inaugurated the first impounding.

We crossed the final gate and turned left on to the SHAJ road [State Highway Authority of Jharkhand]. The three tall chimneys are boldly visible from here. We moved further leaving the barrage road on my left. On the downstream of the barrage the cremation area where the last rites of Guptaji’s mother was done, is now sunk below water.

Quickly we came on to the Hazaribaj -Tanzer road. This is the road I travelled many times to go to the Chatti-Bariyatu mines to ease-out coal transportation which is often infested with local / political interferences. It seems strange that I am not going to travel this road again!  The road opens up quickly to reach us to Kiraderi. The three bold chimneys are still visible from here.

The Sikri township appears on the right. Soon we reached the Pakri mines area. On the uphill road from Pakri mines I stopped the car and tried to locate the three bold chimneys between the two hills on top of the Pakri conveyors. They looked small but are still visible from here. I showed the direction to my wife to see for herself. Unknowingly my eyes get moist which I failed to hide from her.

The road from here is solely my own road which is no longer under the protected environment of NTPC. After 36 years NTPC & myself is now separated. It’s unbelievable but I know NTPC will never get separated from my heart!

We reached Hazaribag …
